Writing, but not Writing

"You fail only if you stop writing" - Ray Bradbury

June 10, 2021

As the title suggests, I've been writing, but not writing. More specifically, I have no been writing what I should be writing (my book) and I have been farting around on other things like Harry Potter Role Playing (I'm such a loser!). While my last blog post talked about how you have to go out and get inspired, I have failed to grab my inspiration. I have failed to write since writing that last blog post, except I'm only referring to my book. I suppose a writer isn't failing if they are writing, even if the writing it's productive writing, does that make sense?

Let's be real, I didn't have a topic for a blog post for an entire month so now I'm throwing bullshit at my blog which probably doesn't get read.

I did some writing, I'm going to share it with you readers (if you exist) right now. It's a little piece of descriptive writing I've been working on to improve a part of my Wildehaven Series. Haven't heard of that? Stay tuned, maybe I'll talk about Wildehaven sooner or later.

I'll tell you the name of the short story after the description. I don't want to give it away.

"Alaric’s eyes widened in horror at the massive creature staring him down with rabid yellow eyes. The fur on its muzzle was matted with Merrick’s blood, and as it took Alaric in, he thought the hair rose from its back. It began to snarl, showing yellowing fangs stained with blood, and it took a step forward on sharp claws that seemed to slice open the earth. Alaric followed its movements with his eyes, prepared for it to lunge at him at a moment’s notice. It moved deliberately, circling him, with ears pointed forward and its tail lashing at the ground."

The short story is called "Alaric and the Wolf," and is an origin story that predates the first book in my Wildehaven series.

Writing? Failing to write? Not sure what I'm doing right now besides rambling for the sake of rambling!
