The building shudders. Mackenzie jolts in his sleep and wakes with his heart racing. It's just one of those hypnic jerks; startled in sleep. A completely normal phenomenon that passes within a few seconds, and he's able to drift back to dreamland. He's not able to fall back to sleep. Something is not right.

There's a light on his bedside table. It flickers to life and dimly illuminates the lonesome room in which Mackenzie sleeps alone. The absence of his bed companion worries him. He reaches for his glasses on the nightstand, as if putting them on will make the empty room clearer. It does not. The room is sitll empty, cold.

Something outside hits the window. It causes Mackenzie to jump. He clutches his chest and lets out a sigh of relief. He assumes it's just the wind blowing the branches of the nearby tree, like usual, except he can't hear the wind...

"Ch-Charlie?" Mackenzie calls out.
